O'Neill Lady Eagles with Many Personal Bests at Norfolk Catholic Track Meet

The O’Neill Lady Eagle track and field team had their last meet of the year before Districts last Thursday, May 5th at Norfolk Catholic.

O’Neill had several personal bests led by junior, Emily Morrow, who won the shot put with a toss of 35-2.5.

Mikayla Marvin continues to shine in the pole vault, placing 2nd with a new personal best of 10-6. Her teammates, Caleigh Miles and Amanda Pischel both recorded their best vaults of their careers also. Caleigh got over 9-0 to finish in fourth and Amanda cleared 8-6 to finish in 5th.

 

Abby Gillham ran her personal best time of 6:05.2 in the 1600 to finish in 3rd. Whitney Watson ran the 3200 in 13:52.6 to finish in 5th place.

 

Samantha Eichelberger placed in both hurdle events for the Eagles. She ran 16.8 in the 100 high hurdles to finish in 4th and 48.7 in the 300 low hurdles to place 3rd. Teammate, Aurora Gutshall also placed in the 100 highs with a time of 16.9 to finish in 5th.

 

The 4 x 800 relay team consisting of Briaunna Parks, Payton Birkel, Claire Morrow and Lilly Thompson continue to lower their time in the event. They finished in 3rd with their best time of the year, 10:20.1.

 

The 4 x 400 relay team of Sam Eichelberger, Briaunna Parks, Mikayla Marvin and Lilly Thompson finished in 4th with a time of 4:25.5.

 

Allison Ludwig jumped 31-09.50 in the triple jump to place 4th in the event.

 

“We keep getting better in many events. Emily Morrow throwing over 35 feet in the shot put was the highlight for me. Mikayla Marvin had a great day also by beating her personal best in the pole vault. We are excited to see what our 4 x 800 relay team can do at Districts this week in O’Neill; they keep getting better and better.”
