Boys Compete at Dan Lennon

Eagle Track team competed in the Dan Lennon Invitational Track Meet held at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Over forty-five schools participated in the track meet. Top five finishers in individual events and top three in relay events earned plaques
Leading the Eagles with his first individual championship was Bailey Thompson in the triple jump. Bailey jumped 40’ 6 ¾” to grab top honors. Corbin Dean tied for 2nd in the pole with a vault of 11’ 6”. Alex Thramer placed 2nd in the high jump, 5th in the long jump, and 4th in the sixty-meter hurdles. Nathaniel Jennings placed 4th in the 800 meter run.
“I really thought it was a great opener for us. We had a lot of athletes compete. Gave us a lot of ideas on where we need to improve. We have a lot of up-side for the team,” said Coach Hilker.
Next week the O’Neill Eagles will compete in their first outdoor meet, Plainview Invitational. Field events will begin at 12:45 pm and running events at 1:45 pm. Finals are scheduled to run fifteen minutes after prelims of the 200-meter are completed.
