O'Neill High School Band Starts Season Off with Superior Rating

Drum Majors Blair Langan and Mikayla Marvin display the Superior award while Colorguard captains Amanda Brown, Shelby Thomas and Aurora Gutshall enjoy the “Best Color Guard” award from the Pierce Marching Contest.

Story and Photo Courtesy Chad Dean – On Wednesday, October 4th, the O’Neill Screaming’ Eagle Band traveled to Pierce to perform in the annual Pierce Marching Contest. There the Eagle Band received a ‘Superior’ rating. For the 5th consecutive year, they also earned the ‘Best Colorguard’ award. This year’s show is entitled “The Jackson Five”. The OHS Band performs the tunes “I Want You Back”, “I’ll Be There” and “ABC”.

The 58 members are lead by drum majors Blair Langan and Mikayla Marvin.

The O’Neill Screaming’ Eagle Band will conclude their marching season on October 21st when they perform at the Quad State Field Marching Competition in Vermillion, SD. They will once again march in the Dakota Dome on the campus of USD.

It was another fun, exciting, successful day for the Screaming’ Eagle Band. Special congrats to Colorguard instructor Teri Brown for the guard’s 5th consecutive “Most Outstanding” award at Pierce.
