A message from Ms. Widner . . .
Hello from O’Neill Elementary!
I am Jennifer Widner, the elementary principal. I have been a part of the O’Neill Public Schools' team for 6 years. I have experience as a classroom teacher, library media specialist, and principal. I have enjoyed working at O’Neill Elementary. Our student population of about 360 students is housed in a modern building with great access to technology. Breakfast and lunch menus with multiple choices are offered daily. The Developing Eagles after-school program is available from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm. Developing Eagles supports families with safe after-school care and supports students with tutoring and enrichment activities.
The O’Neill Elementary offers excellent opportunities for students. The teachers are experienced and work diligently to understand the students and plan instruction to meet their needs. Core subject areas are taught with support from Title 1 Specialists, English Language Specialists and team teaching support from Resource Teachers. Enrichment is provided in whole class and individual formats in grades kindergarten through third, with individual and small group pull out classes for students in grades fourth through sixth. Students participate in classes for physical education and vocal music as well as weekly art, library, technology, and guidance classes. Fifth and sixth grade students have the opportunity to participate in band. They can also audition for Soundsational Singers. This group of singers practice twice a week for special performances and travel to present concerts bi-annually. The staff at O’Neill Elementary works hard to provide students with quality instruction and a solid foundation for learning.
