O'Neill Public Schools hosted a staff appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, April 26th. Staff enjoyed hearing from Tyler Regan, Student Council Vice President, Makenzie Petersen, Student Council President, and Board Member, Jim Wakefield. Perfect weather allowed two O’Neill records to be broken Saturday at the Mid States Junior High track meet. Blair Gutshall was edged out of 1 st place, but was able to break her sister, Aurora’s, record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.75. Gutshall was also a member of the record setting 4x400 relay along with Meg Schluns, Tayor Altwine, and Alyssa Eichelberger. Their winning time was 4:23.34. . . .
The O'Neill golf team really started to get their season off and rolling last week with two big tournaments. On Thursday the Eagles hosted their invite which saw 62 golfers compete on a cold and windy day. Eagles competed at the West Holt Invite last Thursday. Lady Eagles placed 5 th while the boys won the team title. In the boy’s division the Eagles won seven individual events and one relay. Turner Jussel won two events as the O’Neill Junior High boys finished in second place at the annual invite held Tuesday in the Irish Capital. West Holt won the meet with 114 points. The O’Neill 7 th grade boys won the 200 through the 1600 and scored in thirteen of the fifteen events on their way to claiming top honors in the Mid State Conference JH meet held Saturday in O’Neill. The O'Neill Public School Board met in special session to interview architectural firms for the proposed Jr. Sr. High School building project on Monday, March 27th.
