Girls JH B team has hard fought battle with West Holt
November 14, 2014
The Junior High girls basketball team traveled to Atkinson to take on the West Holt huskies. This was a typical O'Neill - West Holt battle with both team playing hard defense and scoring was at a premium. The game was tied at 4 at the end of the first quarter and Atkinson took a slim 10-8 lead at the end of the first half. The second half showed both team battling back and forth for most of the game. O'Neill was able to tie it up with under a minute left. West holt took the ball down the floor and hit a long 2 with five seconds left. O'Neill pushed the ball down the floor and hit a shot just after the time had expired to end up losing by a score of 17 - 15. O'Neill was led in scoring by Makayla Hilker who scored 6 point for the Eagles. Taya Rainforth chipped in 3 point while Chloe Scott, Makenna Fowler, and Morgan Breiner each chipped in 2. "The Eagles played another gutsy effort against a very physical team. We need to work on stepping up to the physical play, and make sure that we work harder at boxing out and rebounding to continue to get to where we want to be as team", commented Coach Buller. The Eagle will next be in action next Tuesday as they host the Ainsworth Bulldogs.
