O'Neill Public Schools

On Friday, April 22nd, the O’Neill High School Bands traveled to Atkinson to perform at the 2016 NSAA District III Music Contest. The Concert Band and Stage Band both received Superior ratings as well as State Medalist honors. They were 2 of the 4 instrumental ensembles to receive the honor. In all the OHS Band received 14 Superior Ratings and 1 Excellent Rating.

Receiving ‘Superior’ Ratings were: Concert Band (State Medalist), Stage Band (State Medalist), Flute Trio (Sydney Zahm, Mia Tinsley, Chandra Spangler), Trumpet Quartet (Vionne Trizila, Caleigh Miles, Alexa Dougherty, Gabbie Scott), Low Brass Quartet (Jack Gutshall, Allison Ludwig, Blair Langan, Corbin Dean),  Flute Solo (Sydney Zahm), Clarinet Solo (Lauren Osborne), Alto Sax Solo (Nathanial Jennings), Tenor Sax Solo (Ehric Strope), Trumpet Solo (Vionne Trizila), Trumpet Solo (Maddie Hohbein), Baritone Solo (Corbin Dean), Mallet Solo (James Walton), and Piano Solo (Nathanial Jennings).

Receiving an ‘Excellent’ Rating was Trumpet Solo (Alexa Dougherty).

“The OHS musicians were the most prepared group I have ever taken to District Music Contest. It showed in their performances as well as the ratings. I couldn’t be more happy with these fine student musicians!” commented band director Chad Dean.
