O'Neill Public Schools

On Thursday April 9th, the O’Neill Lady Eagles Junior High Track team traveled to Atkinson to participate in the West Holt Invitational at the Roger Brink Track and Field complex. The lady Eagles competed against several area teams. While no team points were kept, the Eagles came away with many medals.

            Gold medals from the Eagles included Brianna Kallhoff in the Shotput with a throw of 36’ 1.5”. This throw also set a new meet record for the West Holt JH Invite and earned Kallhoff a second-place spot on the O’Neill JH All-Time just inches behind her sister Mariah Kallhoff who set the record in 2024. Kallhoff also placed 2^nd in the Discus with a throw of 97’ 6”.

Madisyn Eichelberger and Jaidyn Owens also took home gold as they tied for 1^st place in the High Jump. Eichelberger and Owens also found success on the track with Eichelberger earning 3^rd place in the 200m Hurdles with a time of 33.24 and 5^th place in the 100 Meter Dash with a personal best of 13.91. Owens and Eichelberger along with their 4x100M Relay Teams earned 2^nd and 3^rd place on the day. Eichelberger and the team of Avery Jackson, Harper Fick and Hailey Gartner earned 2^nd place with a time of 57.78 and Owens and the team of Lianna Murphy, Elizabeth Trejo and Marissa Grosch ran a 58.37 to secure the bronze in the event.

Harper Fick, a seventh grader, got the Silver Medal in the Long Jump with a jump of 13’ 2.5”. Another top finisher in the field events was Marissa Grosch in the Pole Vault clearing 6’ 6” and earning a 3^rd place finish. Tandi Shoemaker also found herself on the medal stand in the Shot Put and Discus. She earned 3^rd place in the Shot Put with a throw of 27’ 6.5” and 5^th place in Discus throwing it 60’ 9”. Zooey Hilger found success in the Triple Jump with a 3^rd place finish and a jump of 28’ 3”. Hilger also was on the 6^th Place 4x400M relay team along with teammates Madison Wettlaufer, Erandi Martinez and Mya McCormick. Their time was 5:02.79.

Other top performances on the track include Hailey Gartner’s 6th place medal in the 100M Dash along with a 7^th place finish in the same event by Avery Jackson. Erandi Pantoja finished 4^th in the 800M run following her was Elizabeth Trejo with a 5^th place finish. The highly anticipated Throwers Relay team of Brianna Kallhoff, Tandi Shoemaker, Halle Prouty & Blake Boettcher earned 2^nd place in the event.

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday competing at Boone Central.
