The O’Neill girls track and field team turned in an impressive performance at the Battle Creek
Invite on April 8, finishing 3rd as a team behind a number of standout individual efforts.
Freshman Kiarra Kennedy led the way with a dominant performance in the distance events,
winning the 800 meters in a personal-best time of 2:25.47. Her victory highlighted a strong
showing from the younger athletes on the roster.
In the field events, Mariah Kallhoff continued her outstanding season by winning the shot put
with a throw of 39’7”
She also placed 3rd in discus, adding valuable team points.
O’Neill also saw success in the jumps, where Serena Chavez earned 2nd place in the triple
jump with a personal-best mark of 34’4”
. Blakely Sudbeck added another runner-up finish,
clearing 4’10” to take 2nd in the high jump.
On the track, Madelynn Heiss sprinted to a 2nd-place finish in the 100 meters with a
season-best time of 13.11, continuing her strong presence in the short sprints.
The team also found success in relays, as the 4x400 relay team of Taya Dickau, Addison
Engelhaupt, Hannah Hilker, and Mia Lindsay placed 3rd, while the 4x800 relay team took 3rd as
well, showing the team’s depth across distance events.
Just two days later, O’Neill returned to action at the Broken Bow Invite on April 10, finishing 6th
as a team while continuing to build momentum and record personal bests.
Mariah Kallhoff once again led the field events, winning the shot put with a personal-best throw
of 40’5” and placing 3rd in discus, solidifying her role as one of the team’s top performers.
Distance standout Kiarra Kennedy delivered another strong performance, placing 4th in the
3200 meters with a personal-best time of 13:01.82.
The Eagles’ relay teams were a highlight of the meet. The 4x400 relay team of Madelynn Heiss,
Blakely Sudbeck, Mia Lindsay, and Kiarra Kennedy raced to a 2nd-place finish, posting a time of
4:20.42. The 4x800 relay team also ran well, finishing 4th.
In individual events, Madelynn Heiss placed 5th in the 200 meters and added another strong
finish in the long jump, while Serena Chavez took 4th in the triple jump, continuing her
consistent performances.
Across the board, O’Neill athletes recorded numerous personal bests, reflecting continued
improvement and setting the stage for a strong remainder of the season. The Eagle Track
Teams will be back in action on Thursday April 16 at the O’Neill Invite
