O'Neill Public Schools

On Friday April 17, the O’Neill Lady Eagles Junior High Track team traveled to Ainsworth to participate in the Ainsworth Middle School Track Invitational. The Lady Eagles competed against several area teams. The Eagles finished as a team in 2^nd place as runners-up scoring a total of 88.5 points with many medals scored for the team.  

            Gold medals from the Eagles included Jaidyn Owens in the High Jump clearing a personal best of 4’ 8” and Brianna Kallhoff in 8^th Grade Shotput with a throw of 33’ 8.5”. Kallhoff also took home the runner up spot in the 8^th Grade Girls Disus with a throw of 88’ 9”. Tandi Shoemaker also found success in the throws earning 3^rd Place in the 8^th Grade Girls Shotput with a throw of 25’ 5” and 3^rd Place in the Discus with a toss of 60’ 5”. Another Gold for the Eagles was on the track with Madisyn Eichelberger securing the top spot in the 200M Hurdles with a time of 33.78.

Other top performances on the track include Zooey Hilger’s 800M Run. Hilger finished in 2^nd Place with a time of 3:03.66 and Erandi Pantoja was not far behind with a 4^th Place finish in event. Pantoja also had an impressive 2^nd Place finish in the 1600M run with a time of 7:06.67. Eichelberger also found herself back on the medal stand with a 5^th Place finish in the 100M dash. Ruby Jackson a 7^th Grader earned the 5^th Place spot in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 23.63. The Eagles 4x100M Relay Teams were top finishers as well. The team of Madisyn Eichelberger, Lianna Murphy, Hailey Gartner & Marissa Grosch earned 1^st Place with a time of 57.12 and the team of Mya McCormick, Harper Benson, Jaidyn Owens & Harper Fick finished in 3^rd Place with a time of 59.64. Gartner and Grosch were also joined by Jaidyn Owens and Zooey Hilger in the 4x400M Relay for another 1^st Place Finish in the event and a time of 4:55.81.

The Eagles also had a few more top finishes in field events. Madisyn Eichelberger placed 3^rd in the High Jump and Halle Prouty also found herself in 3^rd Place in the 7^th Grade Discus. In the Pole Vault Marissa Grosch and Erandi Pantoja went 4 & 5 with Grosch earning the 4^th Place spot clearing 6’ 0” and Pantoja clearing 5’ 6” to earn 5^th. Harper Fick is continuing to find success in the Long Jump. Fick jumped 12’ 7.75” to secure the runner-up medal in the event. Not far behind was Ruby Schluns and Avery Jackson who ended up in 5^th & 6^th in the 7^th Grade Division.

The Eagles will compete on Tuesday, April 21^st at their home invite and then also at home will be the JH Mid State Conference Invite on Saturday, April 25^th.

Triple Jump: 6^th – Zooey Hilger
