O’Neill FFA District X Leadership Skills Events Contest

 

O’Neill FFA hosted District X Leadership Skills Events Contest for nearly 500 students on Monday, January 6th at O’Neill High School. FFA Chapters in attendance include: Ainsworth, Burwell, Chambers, Elgin, O’Neill, Rock County, Stuart, Valentine, West Boyd, West Holt, and Wheeler Central. O’Neill Students earned the following awards. In Discovery Speaking: Nikki Gotschall- Blue Ribbon, Chandra Spangler- Blue Ribbon, Jace Stagemeyer- District Champion and will advance to State. Jr. High Quiz Bowl Team consisted on Nikki Gotschall, Tessa Rainforth, Chandra Spangler, Julia Bauer, Morgan Fowler, Jace Stagemeyer, Aurora Gutshall, Sam Eichelberger. This team earned District Champion and will advance to State. In Creed Speaking Robyn Isom earned a Red Ribbon and Sydney Zahm advanced to the finals round where she earned a Blue Ribbon. In Junior Public Speaking Tejlor Strope- Blue Ribbon and Zeb O’Bryan- Red Ribbon. In Cooperative Speaking Miles Stagemeyer earned District Champion and will advance to State. In Natural Resources Brandi Taylor and Breanna Jakubowski both earned Blue Ribbons. In Senior Public Speaking Riley Wakefield earned 4th place receiving a Blue Ribbon. Nathan Gotschall earned a Blue Ribbon and 1st alternate to State in Extemporaneous Speaking. Jacob Goldfuss advanced to the finals round in Job Interview where he earned 4th place and a purple ribbon. O’Neill had two Jr. Parliamentary Procedure Teams this year. Team #1 consisted of Jake Young, Alexa Dougherty, Amanda Pischel, Bailee Dougherty, Parker Belgum, Cody Drueke, and Miles Stagemeyer. Team #2 consisted of Devin Jurgensmeier, Clint Bordovsky, Sydney Zahm, Corbin Dean, Robyn Isom, Coby Drueke, and Sidney Breiner. Both Jr. Parliamentary Procedure teams earned Blue Ribbons. The Sr. Parliamentary Law team consisted of Breanna Jakubowski, Catrina Spangler, Jacob Goldfuss, Nathan Gotschall, Arianna Dugan and Brandi Taylor. This team earned District Runner-up and will advance to State. The Ag Demonstration Team consisted of Bailey and Derek Krieger presenting on John Deere’s Field Connect. This team earned District Champion and will advance to State as well.

Inserted ImageAlong with the members excelling in their individual contest, the chapter tied for District Sweepstakes Champion with Stuart FFA Chapter. Sweepstakes is figured on the placing of members in their contests. If a members earns 1st place then the school is awarded 4 points, 2nd place is 3 points, 3rd place is 2 points, and 4th place is 1 point. O’Neill and Stuart both earned 22 points resulting in the tie for Champion Sweepstakes. A Co-Champion title was awarded to both chapters as there is no tiebreaker for this awarded. Good Luck to O’Neill FFA members as they advance to the state contest in Lincoln this April.
