Developing Eagles After School & Summer Program

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of the Developing Eagles program is to strengthen all families in our community through the provision of a quality after school and summer program that fosters an environment of social responsibility and respect.

OUR GOAL:

To provide the best child care program available as well as to meet the expressed needs of families in the area of enrichment, academics, and physical activity. We want to provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that serves that best interests of each child and his/her family.

OBJECTIVES:

The Developing Eagles after school/summer program is funded in part by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. In order to continue funding though this grant we must meet the following objectives:

1. By the end of the grant project, all students regularly attending the Developing Eagles program will score at a proficient level on 75% of the grade appropriate Reading, Math, and Science High Achievement Outcomes correlated to the Nebraska LEARNS standards.

2.  By the end of the grant period, all students regularly attending the Developing Eagles Program will exhibit improved social skills and behavior as measured by asset development and a decrease in office referrals.

3.  Developing Eagles will have a minimum of 80 students who attend at 30 days or more of the sessions offered.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT AND COMMUNITY LEARNING SERVICE:

Developing Eagles seeks to involve parents in the program. During the month of October there is the nationwide after school program celebration Lights On! When the Developing Eagles showcase what has been done and invite the parents to activity evening. A Math Family Night in October and a Family Reading Night are also offered. Community Learning is a way for students to become involved in not only community service, but in learning what the problems and strengths of the community are and seeking to become part of an ongoing solution. Community Learning projects are ways that students can apply what they are learning in the classrooms to real life.
