Congratulations to all of our students who competed in the NECC Scholastic Contest on March 22, 2023. Special shout out to the following students: Tucker Stagemeyer 1st place in American Government, Winnie Huber 1st place in Vocabulary, Braedyn French 2nd place in Intro to Psychology, Carter Hickey 2nd place in World History, and Maddox Hammerlun 3rd place in Geometry.

On Thursday, March 23, 2023, Mr. Mike Peterson was awarded Outstanding Secondary Teacher at the NRCSA (Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association) Spring Conference held in Kearney, NE. Congratulations Mr. Peterson on this well deserved honor.

Article from KBRX - The O’Neill High School recently received the “Excellence In Academic Achievement” Award from the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association. Mr Dean accepted the award on behalf of the band during the NSBA Spring Convention. This award is presented to high school bands that have an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Currently the O’Neill High School Band has an accumulative grade point average of 3.52. There are 20 band members with a 4.0 GPA, seven of them are Seniors. . . .

District speech is the most emotional day of the year. Intense heartbreak and profound joy coexist. We grew so much as a team this year and we are so proud of every single kid who put themselves out there week after week and created something wonderful. Zuri Moore was 4th in Persuasive and Winnie Huber was 4th in Serious, missing state by just one place. The Norm Mandstedt girls tournament on Thursday, January 5th and the Mid-Dakota Monster on Friday and Saturday, January 6th and 7th. Tough, Tough, Tough! So many highlights. The O'Neill Public School Board met in special session to interview architectural firms for the proposed Jr. Sr. High School building project on Monday, March 27th. The board listened to presentations from the following five firms: DLR Group, BVH Architects, The Clark Enersen Group, CMBA, and Davis Design. A firm will be selected at the April 10th board meeting.
