Junior High Girls Win Ainsworth Invitational Track & Field Meet

It took four tries, but the effort by the Lady Eagles paid off by finally defeating Ainsworth 167 to 153 on their home turf.
The throwers placing in their events helped make the difference. Seventh grade shot put had two placers; Kelsey Osborne took 1st– 21’1/2”, Mackenzie Doty 2nd– 20’11”; both girls placed in the discus Doty 5th– 54’11”and Osborne 6th– 52’7”. Fellow 8th grade throwers Sable Davis placed 6th in discus-62’6” and Mikyla Grenier 6th in shot put-22’2”.
The jumpers went 1st and 2nd in every event. Seventh grade long jump-1st-Blair Gutshall-13’4 ¼”; 2nd Meg Schluns-13’4”. Eighth grade long jump-1st Makenna Fowler-13’7 ¾”; 2nd-Mikyla Grenier-12’ 8 ¾”. Triple Jump- 1st– Taya Rainforth- 29’ 6 ½”; 2nd– Makenna Fowler- 29’3”. Personal bests by Morgan Breiner in the vault with 7’0” vault to take first, and Mikayla Hilker in the high jump 4’6” to place 3rd.
Only two running events struck gold, but depth held us in the team race. The first place finishes were Blair Gutshall in the 100 meter with a time of 13.8 seconds and 4×100 relay team(Gutshall, Meg Schluns, Taya Rainforth, and Alyssa Eichelberger)-54.0. This relay team will head to the junior high state track meet in Gothenburg Saturday to try to improve on their record time.
Taya Rainforth added to her collection of awards by finishing 2ndin both the 100 hurdles- 17.2 and 200 hurdles- 31.8. Third place finishes were Blair Gutshall in the 100 hurdles- 17.7, Alyssa Eichelberger 100 m- 14.1, Meg Schluns 400 m- 1:06.2, Makenzie Parks 200 hurdles- 34.2.
