The O’Neill High School recently received the “Excellence In Academic Achievement” Award from the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association. Mr Dean accepted the award on behalf of the band during the NSBA Spring Convention. This award is presented to high school bands that have an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Currently the O’Neill High School Band has an accumulative grade point average of 3.52. There are 20 band members with a 4.0 GPA, seven of them are Seniors. This is the second year in a row that the band has received this award. “Band students are generally the busiest kids in school. They are involved in many other activities and athletics. To be able to maintain their GPA while juggling their activities is a testament to how great these kids really are!” commented band director Chad Dean.
